This is almost the last of my Bliss layer cake. I need to find some cheap charm packs, because this is a line I'm not losing my love for any time soon. This quilt was put together and done within a day for my friend Heather, who just delivered her third little girl. I had a quilt ready for her which I thought was gender neutral until she had a girl and then it seemed really boyish.
Heather and I have known each other since we were 2. Our birthdates are exactally two weeks apart, our first born are exactally two months apart. She is part of the great network of women that have known me for so long that they can no longer get rid of me. They accept me, my flaws and quirks and have seen me at my best and worst.
Another is Karyn who will be my visiting buddy when I get home this weekend to see baby Ashley. Karyn and I seem to see new babies together, and she is the only person I know who has called me and invited me into her hospital room meer hours after her babes are born. These are ladies I'm not sure I would know what to do without. We have done everything together, we all played baseball together for the better part of 15 or 16 years, were on the same school athletic teams, and are the only three in our close group of friends whose parents dared to move from their family homes (only to relocate at the furthest 15 minutes away!) They say that you can never go home. Untrue!

Very sweet! I have a few baby quilts to make and then I'd like to make a few to have on hand so I won't have to be sewing any this summer...rather have hand work in the summer...I like the simplicity of this one you made.
Look at you go! You've got letter quilted on there and everything! I'm impressed!
I love this!! I'm wanting to do something similar for a baby quilt I'm making for my daughter. Did you applique the letters before or after you quilted the top to the batting & backing? It's my first quilt so sorry if that's a stupid question. :) I'm not sure how the back would look if I applique after, but I also think it might look weird to quilt around the letters.
