Weekend Projects

Happy Monday! Can anyone really say that? It was a dreary weekend here, lots of rain and damp air, so there was a lot of indoor time. We did attempt to get out and do a little house hunting, but that failed miserably as all the open houses in the area were not even near our price point. Oh well, there's always next weekend.

The next month is a little too busy for my liking. I have a weekend I'm working, then a weekend home with my parents, then my dad's 60th birthday, then Easter, and trying to fit in seeing a few friends that I feel I've completely disappeared from. With all that said I took the nap time breaks that William provides me with getting a few little projects finished.

I got this cute quilted "blankie" done. Meant to be just that, big enough that you just put it over them when they're little, and small enough that they can drag it around everywhere when they're older. I finished the back with flannel for a nice soft feel, and used the binding tutorial from Vanessa to finish it. I have to say that it's the first binding tutorial I could understand enough to even try, and it worked out great! No more sloppy sewing on binding for me!

I also put some binding on a knitted blanket that I had done, it gives it a much more finished look and I think that I'll do that with all my seed stitch blankets from now on. I also had a little extra time to try out a project from the new Quilts and more. This screams spring is here!

Your quilted blankie is wonderful, Barbara! And I do love a fabric bind on a knit blanket or pillow...give such a nice contrast and textural difference as well as splash of color. Well done with that binding--good tutorial, thanks for sharing. Hope you find that lovely balance of doing all your want and need to and still enjoy it all :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))
